For some reason my house wifi doesn't work on my phone so I watch HD Youtube videos on my 4G. Last cycle I used 21.4 gigs

People have taken advantage by downloading stuff like movies and large files, so we all have to suffer

I have to stay under 3GB or else they start charging me overages. I used to have unlimited on my old phone, but I had to get a new one and Verizon no longer offers unlimited

I travel a lot for work, so that's why mine is so high.

Is American broadband capped?

2-3GB. We have a shared plan with Verizon where 6GB is split between the 4 of us, but that's more than enough since my mom and her boyfriend never use data and my sister doesn't use much either.

But when I went to Florida in January, I used like 5GB from tethering because our stupid condo only had ethernet which my MacBook doesn't have I got in trouble for running up the overage fees.

Cable providers typically throttle your speeds when you've downloaded 250GB of data in a month. Some companies have been getting shady and throttling speeds when using websites like Netflix because it burns through so much data though.

Just our school. As far as I know. After you've consumed one gigabyte of downloads, they throttle the speeds to ridiculously-slow numbers. It's a pain. They're working on a solution to counteract the high downloading rates that students do here.

I'm usually always connected to wifi so It's rare I go over 100 mb because of texting.

When i was on att i would use like 5 gb in like 2 weeks. So glad i left them for sprint because now i have unlimited data
