ATHENS, Tenn. -- Athens police believe a 16-year-old girl is responsible for cooking a cat inside an oven and drowning two kittens.

According to a police report, the teenager went to a nearby library on Friday, called her mother at work and told her something bad had happened.

The Daily Post-Athenian reports that when officers arrived at the apartment, they found a "fully-cooked" cat inside the stove and two kittens submerged in about four inches of water in the kitchen sink.

Charges have not been filed against the girl, but she is being treated at a mental health facility.

Prosecutors suggested the girl receive treatment, but police say charges in the case could be filed if another incident occurs.

This girl is definitely disturbed!

...but if it was not because she's crazy, then she needs to be put in jail.

So they're just going to let her drown a few more kittens before they realize that she needs to go to jail. I hope that some cat randomly walks up to her and gets a good swipe at her face ...

She sounds mentally unstable, but I guess they want to be sure if she's sane or not before charging her.

People play dumb all the time and act mentally insane, just to get off for something that they knew what they were doing. All I know is those cats didn't deserve that. I can't imagine drowning (well I almost did, once) or getting cooked to death.

I can't imagine doing or seeing anything like that. The thought just sickens me. How can anyone feel that they have the power or authority to take another life, whether its human (as in the story of the man beating the child to death) or animal. Injuring something is bad enough, but to just continue savage behavior until the living object is permanently at rest, I just don't see how anyone with a soul can do that. And then the girl's mother...to come home, and see a cooked animal in the oven. There's no way I could use that oven again. There's no way I could eat in that kitchen after knowing what happened there. That girl deserves more than a slap on the wrist, because that's all I perceive this to be. Animals, are just as important as people. They, too, were created by God. I think punishment should be comparable to the punishment of killing a human. A life is a life.

That's a sure sign of someone who isn't quite "right." A normal person--who wouldn't have done this in the first place--would've at least fled or tried to cover it up.

I really can't imagine getting cooked to death either. Sounds like something out of a horror movie.

WTF is wrong with you? You should NOT cook any pet at all, I own a dog who i love & you saying that really pisses me off. Dogs are like the # 1 pet in America, their clever animals, police used them to solve crimes ect, why on earth would you say that? Get some help please

As for the girl should burn in hell enough said, this story, reminds me of the story I posted in here a year ago about 2 boys cooking a puppy some people are really mentally crazy.
