That cuts both ways. One could easily argue that the tabloid buying / E! reality show watching market that Kim appeals to, isn't the market that subscribes to or regularly buys Vogue. Kim stans that are going to run out and buy this are probably not going to subscribe, and Kim does not appeal to the market of women who can afford to pay thousands of dollars for a single garment. One month's worth of a gimmicky shock tactic sales meant to attract the youth may not be worth the damage to the brand or the loss of longtime subscribers.
The problem shouldn't be that they are on it, but the fact that the photo is not good at all.
Since when do you need talent to be on a magazine cover? Plus I'm pretty sure Kanye holds enough talent to cover them both so take several seats. Kim is a talented businesswoman besides. The sexism is real.

Why is it so surprising for a magazine that celebrates fashion to include prominent trend setters on the cover? I think Anna was pretty smart for her decision.

In what world would models and photographers turn down editorial work from American Vogue if Anna Wintour is no longer EIC? Make no mistake about it, Anna is not bigger than the brand. Her power comes from the brand, and she can be replaced. The same photogs that were working for Paris Vogue are still working for Paris Vogue sans Carine.
