The One Thing saving Avril Lavigne era?

I think the future "Shakira" smash hit 6th single "The One Thing" sounds like an Avril Lavigne song. So I was thinking, if this was released by Avril as the lead single of "Avril Lavigne" instead of "Here's to Never Growing Up", will she be getting a more successful era?
