This. It isn't bad, you get to meet new people. I have a lot of good customers who cuss out the bad customers for me. Except this one time this women was being rude to me and assumed I didn't have a college degree. Embarrassed her straight in front of her children. She also avoids looking at me when she comes in because I got her told that one day. But I have really good customers.

It is the only job I can call in and say I'm not coming in today and not worry about getting fired.

Edit: For the people bashing it, unless you have made somewhere around 36k in the last three years (That is how much I have made since starting work at Mcd's when I was 16, and have already made 4.5k this year) you have no reason to talk.

Lol, you should have worked at mine. I defend my employees. (Also, the only reason I haven't been fired, because upper management knows I don't care if I keep my job or not.)

I've worked at KFC for over a year now, it's hard to find work when you're over 18 because everywhere only wants the 15-16 years old.

I don't mind it because the managers and workers are nice but most of the time you're doing their slave labour without getting a thank you.

Customers will treat you like **** but you have to quickly get used to it.

I don't really care because a job is a job and I have to pay for Uni some way.

That depends on what chain it is and how good the environment is.

I know a guy who is older now--40s--who started out flipping burgers at McDonald's when he was young. Now he's a bigwig at their corporate HQ making more money than all of us combined probably.

I worked at Subway for a month before I started college/university. That was enough for me!

Not at all! Saturday is my 2 year anniversary at starting my fast food job and I wouldn't change it for anything. I met my ex boyfriend there, and I made so so many good friends. And once I graduated high school and moved to college pretty much the only people I talk to from home are the friends I made at work, and since it's a fast food place every time I come home for break, I get to work and earn money for college.

No. The only people i look down on are the lazy ones that cheat our disability/unemployment/EBT programs. I'm talking about the ones that are healthy and able body but choose to not work.

I respect anyone with a fast food job because I think it's a stressful job with not a lot of rewards in return. There's a stigma we need to erase in our society.
