Why are people even bothering to mention HP? HP is an iconic and PRAISED book series that will go down in history for generations, never mind the box office gross of the films
These other little series come and go every couple of years. Hot for a minute and then forgotten
FYI .. it's already up from 27% to 36%. Not that it's a huge increase but the reviews that matter are COMING IN and I'm sure that the reviews of the audience will be SUPERB.
That doesn't mean much, considering Becky Mae and Travis of middle America will watch pretty much anything no matter how devoid of substance it is. I mean, the Transformers series is a testament to that.
i'm not surprised. ooh it's based on a YA novel clearly it's the pinnacle of **** movies. god forbid teenagers do something productive like save the ****ing planet.

because the second the protagonist is a teenager in a fantastical universe clearly it's all the same thing
movie expected to do $50 million this weekend. I expected it to pull atleast $70 million. I guess the bad reviews have hurt it or I overestimated the size of the fanbase.

Which is why I don't take most of these critics reviews seriously since they can't seem to make an observation without making a comparison to another YA franchise/film.

I'm lowkey pressed my local IMAX was sold out for the 9:00 showing tonight.

I'm pressed I couldn't go tonight because I have a test tomorrow
It will surely do well due to its fanbase, but that won't keep it away from free-fall a week or two after its premiere. To succeed, Divergent also needs to connect with people who aren't familiar to the book, due to its poor reviews, I doubt that will happen. Let's hope I'm wrong 'cause I'm waiting to watch it.
I actually thought it was good. It's definitely above some other recent YA adaptations (The Host, Beautiful Creatures, Mortal Instruments...) I think my main complaint is that despite a 2 and a half hour runtime it feels rushed, which is weird. Shailene was really good, surprised me.
