The IFPI rightfully labeled Katy Perry "a global phenomenon" -- she has had one of the top selling albums (PRISM with 2.8 M units shipped) and singles (Roar with 10 M units sold/streamed). In the past people said she wasn't global like Lady Gaga who consistently made the IFPI's lists with global singles like Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, and Telephone selling more units than Katy's singles I Kissed a Girl, Hot N Cold, and California Gurls. Now that Katy is selling more singles and albums than Lady Gaga on a gloabal scale, and is officially the biggest global female artist of the past year, does that make her officially more global than Lady Gaga???
