Do you agree with this parent's way of punishment?
2 years ago a teen girl posted a rant letter to her parents about doing chores that she hates doing and she posted the rant on Facebook and then her parents find out and her father shot the laptop with his gun and then posted the video he did of the destroyed laptop on YouTube
Bitch is a spoiled brat, but family matters are supposed to stay inside the house. Give the kid a lesson but don't humiliate her. It only creates more animosity.
I can see both sides. I can see why the father would be upset about the post, but I also feel that parents do forget about all of the little things that they ask their kids to do (get them a drink, get the mail, bring them the remote, etc.). Small things like that add up. I'm not saying that this excuses the daughter's Facebook post, but it is something to consider. One thing that also stood out to me was when he said that she has a stepmother. There could be some problems there. I know a lot of girls have trouble getting along with stepmothers, so that could be part of the reason for her rebelling.
It was definitely wrong for the father to post the video on Youtube. He is reprimanding her for something he turned around and did himself. It was also pointless to shoot the laptop. He could have donated it or gave it to someone who could have used it instead of putting it to waste.
He should have sat his daughter down and got to the root of the problem. What he did is only going to make the problem between him and his daughter worse and it is only going to make her want to rebel more. This video of his accomplished nothing.
This should be enough for anyone to decide that this isn't a good punishment
And making this public? Do they know how much that can hurt her in the long run? This could prevent her from getting into college, getting jobs, among other things

d;; - like who with a right mind thinks a parent shooting a kid's possession with a gun is good parenting?
WTF, that's kind of psychotic/unsettling. Like he's taking out all his aggression on the laptop with his gun instead of his daughter (obviously not though). IDK.
