The thing is, literally everyone and everything (but China) considers HK a country. Down from social networking dropdowns to airport routes (Hong Kong, Hong Kong). Personally, Hong Kong to me might be geographically a part of China but it's definitely got everything it takes to become it's own independent country. Plus, there's a city called Hong Kong in Hong Kong.
