I just find it weird that the album has dropped out of the itunes top 100 in most countries, radios hardly play her music, her existence is ignored at award shows and 95% of the articles written about her are negative. It really does seem like a conspiracy. Also, how did her fans not manage to take applause to the number 1 spot on itunes for even an hour? Katy doesn't exactly have a dedicated fanbase and Roar took off immediately when the general public didn't even know about it's existence

It was only unfair when they were making fun of her for being fat but other than that she did it to herself. So funny because you would think she would know how to handle it considering her whole Paparazzi concepts

For me it's not that the concept is bad (although I would not have actually called the album Artpop myself) it was that she failed to bring anything new. I like the album, it's not perfect but it has some very good songs on it and it's passable as a Gaga album but it's no more artistic than The Fame Monster or Born This Way.

Gaga always brought elements of art into her music and video's more than the average pop star would so I don't know why she needs an Art era.
She said she just meant putting art at the front and working with artists more but so far that hasn't amounted to much and it all seems disconnected from the actual album.

Even the Vomit thing (that seemed a bit more like what I was expecting) was done already in TFM era. Really the only way to go more artistic is to abandon pop and start doing the kind of things artists like Bjork are doing (but ofc in her own way) but Gaga doesn't want to do that.

1. Applause isn't really that great of a song.
2. Roar was far more accessible and catchy.

This too. It's ridiculous how much libel has been written about Gaga since the start of this era. But since there is no accountability, people just feel like they can write whatever they want and it won't be a problem.

Gaga scared her fans off. Born This Way wasn't what they wanted, but I think most still loved her. Then it progressively got worse. Basically she messed up and a lot of people were expecting her to return to form with ARTPOP. Two consecutive mess ups was enough to completely rid her of hype.

She's getting bad press because she was on top, and now they want to bring her down. Gaga should have let them know through her visuals. Addressing the critics on twitter and on music is embarrassing. She became a parody of herself. Her next video does sound like it could heal all of this. We will see!

As far as the underperformance of her album is concerned, well your 1st single can only take an album so far. I mean majority of what ARTPOP sales is Applause her 1st single that actually got a video on time, with promo etc.

DWUW had the potential to crack the Top 5 easily, but no video, messiness all around caused it to underperform.

Also the last music video for this era came out 7 months ago....that's a longgggg time in between videos. Most people don't even know she has an album out.

Applause got old, so did DWUW....so the radio stopped playing them, as simple as that.

You obviously don't realize how badly her image was damaged by the Born This Way era. That era was messy too and she only did well in it because of her previous success. Then she vanished for like a year (which wasn't her fault).

Katy's singles always take off and people loved Roar. I don't like it but I accepted that. Applause had mixed reactions in the beginning and the whole Gaga vs Katy thing just created more hate towards Gaga, Applause did well in the long run though.

How do you expect Artpop to sell? She isn't promoting it anymore, all we have had in the last few months are like two small time performances. She abandoned DWUW and released nothing afterwards. This is why we are happy about the Hype around the puke performance. She needs to be relevant in the media to sell.

I'm not one to defend Gaga, but yes. I'm bored of seeing her get dragged over ARTPOP and things she tweets. Plus idk why people overreact over her being vomited on and her ''art''. This is Lady Gaga, so people should be used to it. I know she cares about being artistic and changing it up with her albums but I just want her to go back to the sound from her first album. I mean, I think that part's bull and clearly not that rational, but it's funny to think about when you consider all the crazy accusations of her and Perez causing Christina Aguilera to fall in sales.

I don't think the public's opinion of her is actually that bad. They're not actively criticising her 24/7, nor are they acting particularly unfairly; they're simply indifferent this era. There's always going to be a new pop girl of the moment as far as the media is concerned.

Last year Miley took a lot of Gaga's attention - that wouldn't have happened 3 years ago, because back then SHE was the it girl. Her original VMA comeback performance was refused, and the new version overshadowed by Miley's shock factor. I do think the industry is pushing her out a bit in favour for newer, more commercial artists but that's just how it goes. It's not as though she's doing badly.

No. She's having a rough era. She's not the first artist go through this & she won't be the last. Most of y'all are only taking issue with it because she's your fave & usually you're on the opposite side with those doing the attacking. She'll survive, learn from the mistakes and come back stronger...or she she'll let it consume her.

I don't think so, I've been a fan for 3 years, but recently she's been doing some stupid and dissapointing stuff and deserves to be criticized. she changed so much in this artpop era, she's lost
