Rolling Stones are a joke anyway. They panned Sky Ferreira's album when it was first released, but then at the end of the year they included it at #21 in their best albums of 2013 list. Where's the logic?

Well that was one reviewer, the year end is all of the writers at Rolling Stone. I think a similar thing happened with Bangerz.

Rolling Stone were very unfair to Lea. The album is brilliant.

The album is fantastic, she gave it ALL in every song! The problem is her background, it's Glee and Broadaway, if it was a Cèline album every critic would have praised it!

This. RS always panned albums with powerful vocalist. They can record any good vocal album, but use irrelevant dance-pop tune.

I can't with so many people here still calling the magazine "Rolling Stones".

The album is not bad at all. If anything it's just a bit safe by modern pop standards, but that hardly makes it worth the kind of review RS gave it. It really is a very appropriate album for her stylistically. I agree that her background on Broadway and on Glee actually has set a bit of a bias against her and honestly she wouldn't be able to win either way with most critics, no matter the kind of album she made.

The album isn't nearly as bad as the critics are making it to be. Granted, it can get a bit dry at times but it's an overall good album. Additionally, Drew brought up a good point saying she wasn't going to win with critics regardless considering her Broadway background and Glee being her main (and really only) credits.

I'd give the album a 7.5/10, personally.
