Discussion: Region-specific singles?

What are your thoughts on region-specific singles?

I'm talking about singes that were only released in specific countries or regions, such as Lady Gaga's "Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)" and "Dance In The Dark", Katy Perry's "Hummingbird Heartbeat", Rihanna's "Jump", P!nk's "Walk Of Shame" and Lorde's "Tennis Court".

Do you like it when certain countries get singles that don't get a worldwide release? Do you think that it's necessary? Should artists release singles WW, or not at all? Do you still consider them singles, or not? Weigh in on this and discuss.

With the global nature of music distribution, region specific releases make no sense only if language will act as a barrier to consumers so when Celine Dion does her French stuff and it is only released in La Francophonie, that makes sense.
