I didn't want to say anything on it but Die Young was an awful lead single choice because it failed to deliver anything new. It sounded like Good Feeling at the beginning, and it was too much like her previous material to make it stand out. It became just another hit, but it didn't help sell Warrior, which is what the whole point of singles is, to promote the album. Die Young did a terrible job of that. Warrior was release before the school shooting too so that didn't have any effect on that. It was all Die Young. Last Goodbye would have generated album sales. And it was a fresh, folky pop sound that would have done very well on the radio in a time where tracks like Rihanna's mid tempo Diamonds smashed and such.
I'm not really a massive fan of Warrior either tbh, especially not as much as some on here who consider it one of her best songs, but I'm not really that crazy about Out Alive either. Wherever You Are however is the worst upbeat track on the record and it's the definition of basic. You do know she was forced to write it too, don't you? (Clarification, I do still like WYA, as I do all songs on Warrior, just not as much as the other tracks, and I have a personal distaste towards it being basically the opposite of everything she promised for Warrior)

While Die Young failed to show a new side from her, it's still an amazing track and one of my favorites. Last Goodbye is my ultimate favorite and I would've loved to see it smash and while it could have definitely smashed, do you honestly believe it would've sold the album any better than Die Young?
I wasn't crazy about Out Alive until like last week, when I realized how amazing it really is. By the way, wasn't she forced to write basically most of the album? They're still amazing songs, of course I feel bad but the fact that she was "forced" to write them doesn't take the quality away.

I believe Die Young is a great track too, and one of my faves on Warrior. Just not as a lead single. Same goes for C'Mon, it's in my Top 3, but it never should have been a single. And... yeah, of course I believe that Last Goodbye would have sold Warrior better. People don't want an album full of Die Young's. The GP were essentially (wrongly) viewing her as a Pitbull or Flo Rida. They buy the catchy single and the album doesn't get touched. Last Goodbye is heartfelt and honest and pure and nothing like any of her other singles, all the while still having a catchy hook and being a nice song ready for radio. Perfect lead single material.
And no she wasn't forced to write most of the album.

The Pitbull comparisons are kinda right, it almost hurts I hope people really start picking up her albums instead of just buying her singles, especially since Warrior was great.
& well, she was forced to write (or sing) Die Young too, according to her so idk...Luke needs to leave her alone. When her unreleased material is at the same level or better than her released material, you know there's a problem.

Bolded is the reason why I believe Die Young was a bad choice for lead single, because if GP only heard Die Young, C'Mon and Crazy Kids, three party-pop singles which really don't inspire anyone to delve further into Ke$ha.
The chorus of Die Young was written by Nate Ruess from fun., she had a different chorus but Luke liked Nate's better so she was "forced" to sing that (another reason why it shouldn't have been the lead, but anyway). And your last part is so true. Some of the Warrior demos/outtakes are better than some of the album tracks, and that's saying something, since for the most part, everything on Warrior is actually decent material.

Something in your kiss made my body electric
And you set me free
That night brought to life all the magic that’s inside
Of you and me
