It comes to my attention after reading some threads that 'White Privilege' is thrown around a lot.

I am Latino White (but I have some Native American in me). But yet I can pass as White in Spain I guess. Of course I am not White like many Americans here. Ok so I am not sure I have it. But since I am 'White' I guess living in the USA maybe I do. Maybe in Colombia I did as well. But I came to the USA when I was 10 years old. I never think about been privilege until is mention so much by Black posters here and elsewhere. I totally understand what they are saying. How historically the USA has benefit Whites so much that Blacks have to still struggle. Although I think these days is much better than 10 years ago or more perhaps, but the USA is becoming better. I think.

So what is this? Can you get rid of it? Do you like having it? Is it wrong to have it? Do you feel like it affects your life at all? Do you care that you have it?

Is there any Black Privilege? In African or Caribbean countries where the majority are Black perhaps?

Do Rich Black people in America, Europe or even in Africa, have Black privilege at all? For Example Oprah, the richest Black woman in the world? Obama been the #1 important person in the USA right now, or some Black president or dictator in an African country have some Black Privilege or not really?

Do some American Black Posters feel like they have better privilege than a Caribbean country like Haiti or African Blacks from Congo?

Like do Germans have better white Privilege than Whites living in the Ukraine for example?

What about Asian Privilege??

So many questions... so much confusion... Please discuss... I find it interesting.

In all seriousness, I don't think there's any such thing as 'black privilege' in the western world. Oprah, Jay-Z, Will Smith, Beyonce, etc. have class privilege, but they're not privileged for being black.

What on Earth is Black Privilege?

There is no such thing as Black or Asian privilege.

White privilege is simply the many luxuries Whites have, not having to deal with the institutionalized racism that people of color do.

For example, Justin Bieber, even if he weren't famous, can dress the way he does now and not a damn thing will be said about it; in fact, some think his new style is cute on him. However, a young Black man dressed the same way would be labeled by MANY as uneducated, a budding criminal, a thug, dangerous, etc whether they're famous or not.

Blacks always get picked first for teams

We blacks get picked first for sports even if we aren't good.

Asians are invited to smart events because people assume they are smart.

Whites get everything plus the things i just mentioned if they are athletic or wear glasses.

Anyway of course people that come from well off countries are more privileged than those that come from poorer ones. Like I'm black in the US and I'm better off than most living in Haiti, so in that sense they can say I'm "privileged to be American."
Also just because your a rich black person doesn't mean people will stop discriminating against you. Oprah recently faced racism when she tried to buy a hand bag from some store but the lady thought she wouldn't be able to afford it because she's black. The first thing anyone will notice about you is your gender and skin color, money doesn't matter until later.

You're missing the point.

The fact that he's White, allows him the freedom of expressing himself in such a way without being stereotyped. People will say "Oh he's just young", "He's finding his niche and expressing himself".

But if I as a Black guy dress exactly the same, it's perceived differently. He's associated with being a thug, criminal, and violent.
