I completely agree with this. But he's in a priviliged position. He can afford to think like this. A lot of minorities can't. Black pride and Gay pride is important.

I have every reason to be proud as a Canadian. I love my country, and my fellow countrymen. I love Canada, it's the best country in the world

My birth country, Philippines... not so much, there's really nothing to be proud of as a Filipino except we sing karaoke all day, and spend time watching telenovelas or gossip about each other.
