It is rumored that Rihanna's album is coming out this year. Now we all know we got a few good albums from her, but they all seem to be, you know, safe.
Now my question is will she finally take a leap of faith and take a risk with this album, like her fellow popstars Lady Gaga, Beyonce and even Katy Perry, and create a great cohesive album and will she survive this long break she is taking between her last album?

Hopefully. She is a great artist and keeps improving. She needs to focus less on pop fluff and more on lyrically good songs like Stay or What Now - she would gain more respect/credibility.
Rihanna's entire image is a risk. Her eras are consistently dark, edgy and make a point of mocking public opinion. Somehow, this only makes her more endearing to us. Within the realm of mainstream popstars, Rihanna is on the less-safe side. Others make a point of pandering to public appeal or rehashing acts that were successful in the past. I don't see Rihanna doing either of those things.
She definitely will. The album's success relies on it.
