The succes of a song has nothing to do with the song itself as only factor, but also with various other factors. Leona Lewis would have probably underperformed with Burn, while Ellie got a hit with it in countries.

Same with We Found Love, it just fitted Rihanna at the time, along with the video etc. Nicole would have probably done okay with it, but Rihanna had all factors on her side, to make it a global smash hit.

Poeple like Nicole, but also JLO and most pop girls make albums with demo's and writingcamps and a portion of those demo's have been send back and forth various studio's, have been gone through various producers etc. before ending up with the artist that releases it.

Rihanna's smash Umbrella has also been gone through various camps before it ended with her, but nobody knows if they would have gotten the same results as Rihanna in the end.

Nicole rejecting "On the Floor" is an unconfirmed Internet rumor. She passed on the "We Found Love" demo, but it doesn't mean she would have got the song even if she did record it. Leona Lewis and Shakira were considered too before it went to Rihanna.
