Depends on what your career ambitions are. Some professions necessitate the education that comes along with a degree in a certain field, but you can also have a successful career in other industries without a degree as long as you're ambitious and talented.
If you want a white collar job it is essential. But know that a white collar job is not necessarily more profitable nowadays. Technicians of all kinds, people who repair cars and plumbers, earn big money. Some college careers that lead to high earning jobs are engineering and medicine. Law and teaching are on decline (but I don't care, I want to love my job, I want to enjoy my life and do something that I like. Life is more than money. I won't let money decide for me).
Plus, getting an education by itself is valuable enough. Knowing another language, arts, other cultures, mathematics and science has no price.
It depends. America's public education system is ****ed on so many levels, and with all the college loan debts and wealth disparities, it's no wonder the military funds their soldiers through school.
College doesn't always define your level of intelligence, plenty people go far with out it, but it DOES help. A lot.
Usually yes, but I will say that a lot of jobs I see that require or prefer a college degree really shouldn't. But the fact that employers do list it means it's that much harder for you to find a job if you don't have one (but definitely not impossible).
It will never hurt but it is not always necessary. If you lack basic intelligence, communication skills and/or people skills, you aren't very likely to be considered for much of anything significant without college.
Ugh, I'm worried college is starting to not be enough. High schools are becoming the new college, with college credits being offered left and right. So I feel like people are going to be expected to do more school AFTER college. Even tho no one can afford that
