The massive-ness of BTW the single is the biggest testament to how unbelievably successful TFM era was. The Grammy performance slayed but the world waited for her to come out of that white van to the red carpet in an egg because TFM set the stage for her to slaughter anything.

This is true, The Fame Monster was a huge era and it counted with good music, good looks, good videos, cultural impact, critical acclaim and media buzz. She was the biggest star at the moment, so sad to see her throw it away like that. It hurts me because I know she has the potential, we've seen it.

I wonder what it would take for her to drop the BTW-esque stuff. She can still have her charity and promote gay rights like she always has, but not make it the center of her music or imagery, and definitely no the basis of her online presence. She was the biggest Twitter account by miles because she was a free b*tch, not because of these philosophical bullcrap messages.
I wonder if she feels she has to keep doing this in order to make her fame worth something. I hope she's willing to be a rockstar again every now and then... even for just a performance or two. I really thought Swinefest was a return to the same Gaga that used to do this regularly
I really wish fans would stop implying she's given up trying and threw everything away etc.
Like, nobody constantly churns out iconography and has massive success just because they try for it. Nobody maintains phenomenal success indefinitely - careers have ups and downs, otherwise peaks wouldn't be notable.
Doing the same thing now as she did back then is absolutely NO guarantee that things would be better. To achieve the same effect, she has to do things differently...and she's currently on the journey to discover what that is. Telling her to go back to RedOne, or hire back *insert TF-era Haus member*, or do x, y and z like she used to...is pointless. She's already been there and done that - you can't shock and impress people with the same tricks.

I remember the crappy instagram vids that surfaced right after she performed this with just confetti everywhere and everyone going nuts to the remix part... this indeed was a perfect performance. She gives us two "SCREAM FOR MEs" in this too.

Today during lunch me and some of my friends were talking about Pop Culture , and I thaught it will be a great idea to use my Ipod speaker and play some music , the last song I was listening to was G.U.Y so it played it back , Some people started bopping to it but once I told them it was lady gaga they all got mad at me and one of my friend even said " Turn off that garbage" I was so embarrassed that I just left the area immediately . Like did that happen to you before ?

Wasn't TEOG slaying iTunes though? I remember being back in Ireland when it dropped as a promo single and radio stations played it anyway.
