Organized religion is akin to evil and has been one of the greatest deterrents to peace and justice in the world for thousands of years, but at the same time I recognize people's right to be as ignorant and prejudiced as they want to be as long as they don't infringe upon other people's ability to make the most out of life.
TLDR: no but no one has to tolerate homophobia for any reason.
I think they should at least be forced to change their rules. I'm a (straight) Christian and I think it's disgusting the way they suppress gay people. Why shouldn't gay people be allowed to be apart of a religion? Being gay isn't a choice so any religion that doesn't understand that and isn't willing to change their minds should be abolished. As the OP said, it does promote homophobia and if it wasn't for religion, there'd be a lot less of it.

There are good and tolerant people active in those religions. Even with religion, it's in human nature to strive for superiority even if it means shunning down your own race.
Yes, because homosexuality is the center of all religions. The whole reason people are born and raised into religion is soley for the purpose to bash gays, because gays are the pinnacle of everything.
Hell, being gay is the center of human life, obviously.
