So I just finished hearing an early listening of the album.
I Blame You really sets the tone for the WHOLE record. The first cuts are all very uptempo-ish specially the first 3. Take That Good Good is FIRE. This HAS to be the 2nd single. PERFECT follow up to I Blame You and her own 'TAKE THIS RING' (Toni Braxton). Some will sure say 'it's very Beyonce-ish' and yes, it has a kinda Get Me Bodied-ish meets Toni Braxton's Lookin At Me kinda vibe. It is AMAZING
Lose Control is the first real mid tempo. VERY CLASSIC R&B material. Classic sex cut, very slow dance kinda o jam. Got me SERIOUS Keri Hilson's first album teas from it.
By cut no5 Like This is old school Ledisi stricking back. A+ vocal delivery and A+ song structure.
I can see THE TRUTH being the 3rd single because it really is the soul of the album. It is the song that kinda represents what the whole record is about. It's not my favorite but it's kinda like the heart of the record that attaches all songs.
Missy Doubt is very funky. Very late 80's Janet Jackson-ish
88 Boxes is the real BIG BALLAD of the album, there's something very AMY WINEHOUSE Back to Black circa in this. Very good and raw vocal track.
Overall on a first listen it is a very solid record
EVEN THOUGH at times one song kinda blends with the previous one, you can tell this album had a vision and a specific sound that she decided to go with and that guided her through it all.
At point the melodies can get too 'same-y' but if you play the cut again after listening for the first time you can really set things apart.
VERY VERY solid effort, and VERY VERY Mainstream 2014 R&B music while still sounding classic Ledisi.
I'm definitely sold on this project! B+ for now with a A- likeability cause I want to listen to it again.
Hopefully this will get some push and actual promo. I need her to at least logs 30k on the first week, THOUGH this looks unlikely.
Can we take a minute to stan for THIS performance?
She really shutted down the R&B game with it.
KILL THAT ROUTINE MISS L.
WAIIIITTTTT
How the hell did I miss THIS performance? She KILLED. Vocals so effortless, and her dancing was actually good too. I'm shocked, and even more a fan now.
I'm conflicted. I love Ledisi's voice but some of the tracks are lackluster. That said, I'm still listening and it'll probably grow on me but "I Blame You" is still my joint.

Mama, stan and tell me about it
That performance made me a ledisi follower. She gave the pop gals a run for the money. That breadown was the real ****. Bitch kilt it
