I'll never understand why certain artists are condescending to pop music.
Lots of pop acts, not all, are manufactured and fake and lack any substance or emotion. If all you want out of your music is a nice shiny bop, then fine, go for some of these pop bimbos. But if you want to actually experience feelings and relate to the lyrics of the music you listen to, then you're only going to be able to look to a few mainstream pop acts and then you're going to have to broaden your horizons.
There is a huge difference between a song like this
and this
I like both songs and artists, but when your main go-to for music is something as deep and raw as the first, with vocals like the first, and music actually made with real instruments BY the band, it's not surprising that the way you would view the differences between the types of music is with condescension. They both have their uses and are both great, but in terms of talent and heart and soul, one is clearly superior.
That's not to say that songs can't have poppy synth sounds and still be well-done and deep, though. Songs that combine the two sounds in the right way are amazing:
I didn't like the quote about Katy. Why so defensive Amy? Just say you like the album.
That's how she is, I remember back when I liked Ev before I started to realize what a terrible person she was, she tore into Britney. Then she did the same thing with Xtina's Stripped and was like "it's a GUILTY pleasure."

yeah because not saying you "like" an album, makes you a terrible person....

No, I wasn't at all trying to imply that was the reason I think she's terrible. That opinion was gleaned from several years of obsessively following Ev related info between the Fallen days pre-Ben leaving and the early TOD days.

Maybe before you start talking **** about another artist, maybe you should do some research.
"OK, hold on a second. I have to post that I in NO WAY am going to endorse any kind of Britney bashing after everything she's been through," Lee wrote at the Evanescence forum. "I can't control what people put on YouTube or anywhere else on the internet, but I would NEVER want my picture or our music connected to something that's based on getting enjoyment out of someone's pain. I know what it's like to feel manipulated, used and helpless - so do most of you, that's why you're here and by now I know what it's like to feel like your entire life is open to the world for judgement. I don't read tabloids and I don't care about celebrity, but it is impossible to escape the whole world just loving to watch her suffer. Remember that this is a human being we're talking about and who wants to be like those horrible people that have hurt you to feel better about themselves? 'Everybody's Fool' is about the fact that the whole celebrity thing is fake and empty. I think Britney Spears is more aware of that now than anyone. I'm not trying to burn you at the stake, Strat, but it would mean alot to me if you'd take your clip down. Love, Amy. P.S.: Tabloids are dumb. Don't buy them."
That wasn't the first time she came in to Britney's defense too, the first was when she made a short appearance during Vh1's Top 20 Countdown.
