What is it about Roar that made it take off so much worldwide, stay number one in many countries for weeks, and become on its way to selling 10 million? A song needs more than just relatable lyrics and a catchy hook to make such a big impact so what is so special about this song? Do you think Katy was/is just in such a good place in terms of public perception or did the massive amount of payola and radio support help?

It really doesn't. Especially if there's little competition.

Roar was upbeat, uplifting and extremely catchy. Everyone can sing along to it. Simple songs usually are the most successful.

The song is good. It's not original or risky, but it's a good pop record.

Roar is one of the most basic songs ever, and I don't understand it's success either. I guess it must be that she's Katy Perry, the song is catchy, and relatable lyrics.
