The only people who I have experienced being uncomfortable with the T "hitching a ride" or whatever are unaccepting of the trans* community in the first place.

Yes, the T should be dropped. Not because the T is a disgrace or anything like that, I just think we are in a different era now. Transgendered people need a stronger focus, a stronger voice by someone who isn't L, G, or B. This won't happen tomorrow, but overtime. I mean it is only inevitable.

The gay community, as of today, seems completely detached from transgendered folks. It is only very recently that I have seen people talk about transgendered people. The main issues that are in the forefront are gay marriage, gay adoption, and gay acceptance. Granted, we may be fighting for at least the latter, it doesn't change the fact that the face of LGBT in not the T.

I'm tired of everyone acting like we are all the same. We are different. Differences need to be acknowledged to be understood. I am gay, but I do not want to be male. Just as there are people born male, feel female, but do not classify as gay. I think there is too much confusion and people lump us all together, when in reality, our differences need to be acknowledged for better understanding and acceptance.

I think the problem that makes it necessary for us to stay together for now is getting the outside world to agree with you. Right now, we're stronger as a collective voice demanding our equality. Perhaps one day trans* rights will rise to the forefront of discussion - it's certainly something I think needs to happen. A gradual departure from lumping everyone together might be beneficial in the end, but it should perhaps not start until the world is more accepting in general, you know? It's tiresome to have gay male issues receive so much more coverage than everyone else, I completely agree - but if we divide in labels and in name we need to be careful not to divide in our cause and goals. We're all here for a more accepting, better world.

Yes because kicking out the T would definitely promote better understanding and acceptance in society . It would probably only make more people have a distaste for transgender people.

I agree. I just believe that one day a transgendered person will lead them into the forefront, and soon people will see the difference between being attracted to the same sex and wanting to be your true sex. But I do think if the T were suddenly dropped, like tomorrow, that would be bad. For me I see it is as natural step that will happen overtime. Pretty soon there will just be L, G, B, and T.
