2NE1 are just way more marketable than SNSD.
Anyway, they almost doubled in 4 days what GG did in 7. That's impressive.
SNSD have sold more in Asia, but on a WW scale 2NE1 have the best shot.
The problem is YG is still squandering it. YG still hasn't given them a proper debut in Japan or America despite getting their feet wet so many times.

Out of the three options though it was really WG and SNSD who made the Kpop scene what it is today. WG has the better discography though and I've always been a bigger fan so I voted for them. "Tell Me" marked a huge turn in the industry and their impact is still felt to this day (Ladies Code ) They accomplished a lot in America considering the timing and circumstances around their attempt to break the market here, I don't know why they're often so discredited. It's a shame they kind of abandoned that just as things started picking up (Like Money actually getting airplay! )
WG definitely got the first breakthrough on the Internet for K-Pop with their hook dance for "Tell Me," but it wasn't till "Gee" that K-Pop hit the WW scale. I miss when KARA, WG, 2NE1 and SNSD were all in constant competition
And I still think WG could get back together. Sunmi just got her first win (YYYYAAASSSS), so hopefully she can manage to keep the group's popularity till the four remaining members decide to perform together again.

Please educate yourself before spouting out random "facts". 2NE1 has not yet tried to breakthrough in America. They have one english track on their first album and did two shows here in 2012 as part of their global tour.
They did an English song for Intel that they teased for months, a collaboration with will.i.am ("Gettin' Dumb)," an Adidas commercial, etc. It's no secret YG wants them to break America; we've known this since 2009.
On a side note, was the song you were talking about their cover of "Like a Virgin?"
I hate that they'll probably never comeback and yet we still don't have a official confirmation that they're over why are the queens of k-pop leaving us in the dark like this?
The only consolation I'm having at the moment is Sunmi's promotion
She feels like the last legacy of WGs

What do you even mean? They have as much (total) promotion in the US as SNSD
It's not like they stop being active in Korea and move to the US

Making a promotional song for intel and featuring on a Will.i.am track still doesn't count as trying to breakthrough. The only korean acts, to my knowledge, that have officially tried to breakthrough in America are BoA, Wonder Girls, and Se7en. Plus PSY, but his breakthrough wasn't intentional.
