I can't deal if more than half of the Top 10 is Beyonce.
TBH her album deserves it... Britney and Gaga's albums were trash and Katy's was mediocre. Miley's was good, but nowhere near the level of Beyoncé's album
The lowdown: It’s official: Britney Jean is the album to miss the top ten of the countdown. (You can all wipe those Taylor Swift-ian looks of shock off your faces now.) Its last remaining track is this elegant William Orbit-produced space odyssey about finding yourself in someone else. The simmering, yearning production never quite finds a climax, but it has been mentioned as a fan favorite and a potential single since before the album was even released. Perhaps that’s because it’s one of the few songs this era to escape the touch of wow.i.suck; perhaps it’s because they see in the traveling extraterrestrial metaphor an emotional resonance with Britney’s own life of emptiness and solitude. Regardless, “Alien,” which missed the top fifteen by less than four points, does bring Britney one small victory in this rate: it’s the highest-ranking album opener.
ATRL says...: "****ing amazing," stereo.love praised. It "might be Brit's best song. Totally deserving of the top ten, #1 even." Edge of Glory argued it was, "minor vocal glitches aside, one of the only songs to stay true to what the album was supposed to be. You win this time, alien princess of pop." bluth called it "the nice, organic voice command you send into Siri, and the rest of Britney Jean is just the asinine and robotic response." August wondered "where this stereotype that aliens are loners comes from, but the idea is the basis of one of Britney Jean's few good songs, so it shouldn't bother me that much." lovesong thought it was "a little too forced" and "overall nothing special." JakeKills wrote, "Britney Spears channeling Ellie Goulding x Katy Perry should've have produced better results." AriNikoBradshaw said it "awful, overrated...and overall just one of the most generic songs I've heard. Not as godawful as the rest of Britney Jean, though."
Best bit: "But the stars in the sky look like home, take me home/And the light in your eyes lets me know I'm not alone" (Also, the gorgeously subtle violins during the verse.)
ETA: JakeKills wrote, "Britney Spears channeling Ellie Goulding x Katy Perry should've have produced better results." My two faves influencing the highest rated song from Britney Spears' most personal record.TM
