You're not fishing for something by saying "stereotypical slave clothing" or "She's used them more clearly many times" because I see no receipts about that.
orly? So now it's her fault how other people plan the performances? That's one way to look at it. The other is: She's giving people a chance, people who otherwise wouldn't get one. As a black male, I don't think what she's doing is wrong at all, she's literally acting like any other 21 year old girl in LA.
But is that really a reason to hate her? I mean most of you have hated her since she dated Nick Jonas, I guess it's because she isn't a fake b*tch like other female pop stars. Because if she did maybe she might be a little more appealing to you.
The comment about slave clothing was to illustrate that having people not associated with the stereotype doesn't make it okay when you put people who are in that clothing too. It's not fishing to complain about something. It's called a comparison. And if you want receipts for her use of little people you should do a google image search because there are plenty (her tour, the EMAs, other performances I can't name, etc.)
And what does being a black male have to do with her use of little people as spectacle? Are you replying to someone else too because I never said this is a reason to hate her, I'm just criticizing her. Like I said, there is an argument for her use of them to be made. It would be great for someone to use them positively instead of using them as props, and maybe you think that Miley is doing something positive. But this is Miley. Do you think she's really fighting for women's rights when she twerks or is it more likely that she is fighting for attention?
lol…… so if Miley had white and black dancers both dressed the same, but both wearing black stereotypical slave clothing, would that suddenly be ok? Little people have a history of being used in pop culture as a joke, or as something cute or funny. By dressing them as teddy bears she's only further doing this. And as that one dancer did say, she felt degraded.
And it doesn't matter who knew who was in those costumes at the VMAs, not when she's used them more clearly many times.
I'm not fishing for something. It's RIGHT THERE. You're just making excuses.

what does this even mean? Miley's normal sized dancers are wearing costumes, the little people are wearing costumes. Miley's normal sized dancers are wearing jumpsuits, the little people are wearing jumpsuits. you keep whining about how she's treating them, then what is a solution to how they should be treated since clearly giving them the same benefits, same paycheck and same treatment as everyone else isn't cutting it.
if those same little people were twerking with Beyonce or Rihanna on their tours, would you call it exploiting/degrading? if Katy had them dressed as tigers on her california dreams tour would you call that exploiting/degrading? if everyone went by your standards then little people would never be hired.
& for the last time, the point of exploiting is the use of capitalizing on something. if nobody even knew little people were in those costumes, there is nothing to exploit. wearing the bear costume is what everyone should think is degrading, not the little people themselves being in them.

To put it simply, do you think that having a stage full of little people dressed as bears and mushrooms to be furthering the role of these people in our society? Is it a positive spin on what they've been previously used for in entertainment or is it the same stereotypical roles they've been playing for hundreds of years? Just because you have many other types of people dressed the same doesn't mean these stereotypes are forgotten or nullified. Similarly having a stage full of black people dressed in "Mamy" style clothes wouldn't go over well. To simply add white people dressed the same doesn't make it suddenly alright.
Get it now?
Now to answer your questions, of course it wouldn't be right to exploit people even if it was from Rihanna, Beyonce or Katy. With your logic, we should continue to put little people in these positions simply so they can have jobs. Well I'm sure that in a creative industry they could find an alternate use. You know, maybe using their talents not their size.
This is the last I'll say about this though because it's getting cyclical and I can tell you guys will find an excuse no matter what I say about stereotypes.

white people dressing up in "black stereotypical slave clothing" isn't accepted anywhere. your example is nullified completely by the fact that it doesn't apply to the conversation. if Miley had everyone dressed as black slaves, it wouldn't matter if they were small or little people - it's still racism. If Miley has everyone wearing goofy costumes that make no sense, it doesn't matter if they're little or normal sized - they're all still looking goofy (but one is accepted by society and the other is not). that's the point of her tour and performances, to not take anything seriously no matter who you are. I don't know what it'll take to get through your thick skull this simple thing but w/e.
whether society deems little people as "circus acts" or not doesn't mean we should hold them back from getting on stage and doing what they want. you're basically telling every little dancer in the world that they should go into something else to save face from being judged because "that's what society thinks and it's always been that way". that's like saying women should've never been able to vote because it's always been that way, gays shouldn't be able to get married because it's always been that way, blacks shouldn't have equal rights because it's always been that way.
but since you really seem moved by this topic, explain in full detail how Miley's little dancers and little dancers in general should be treated when they're hired to dance on stage. by what you've implied this entire time, the only way for them to not be exploited is to stand there and do nothing.
and btw, she also has little people playing her instruments in her band as well. try to find the "exploiting" and "degrading" in that as well please.
