But she's a flop as a solo artist? Does she not have the X Factor?

What's there to like about her tbh? I think she comes off as very tacky with all the bright hair and revealing clothing. There's nothing particularly charming about her personality. She just seems like a generic sexy pop singer.

She's been trying to emulate Katy's Teenage Dream sound but that hasn't worked for anyone but Katy. She needs to find her own niche IMO.

Flop is a little harsh given the fact American Girl actually did pretty well and that was basically her only "real" single.

She looks to old to be singing the songs she does. Katy Perry gets away with it because she doesn't look her age.

Half the comments I saw on American Girl MV were "She looks so old to be dressing and acting like this" etc.

She doesn't have an appealing look to be singing songs like American Girl. She can try to have ADELE esque songs

But she can't have sexy, fun, quirky songs and expect to get popular at her age. It worked for Katy because she's attractive, has a unique voice, and has appeal. I don't know if Bonnie has those things (at least change your name. Bonnie Mckee will NEVER happen )

Currently, she doesn`t really bring anything new to the table as a solo artist.

I`m routing for her though. I hope she manages to kick off a successful solo career.

She's not flopping. American girl was technically her only real single.

She doesn't have anything about her that sets her apart from other pop girls. American Girl was as generic as can be.

Her persona isn't distinct enough. Right now her look and sound are like a Ke$ha/Katy hybrid (granted, this is due more to the fact that both have copped Bonnie's sound to some extent or another than due to lack of originality on Bonnie's part). She needs to retool her image and find a new niche.

Also "American Girl" probably wasn't a great lead single choice.

She gave away her sound to Katy and Ke$ha, so everyone's already heard it by the time she came back as a solo artist. She could try building another sound (and not give it away for major artists to build their brand from) and she might stand a chance.

GIRL, Madonna has been around for years and is considered a legend by most, so that's a horrible comparison.

Because she is a copy of the type of artist she writes for. We have 10+ of her already in the industry and 20+ more waiting for their big break. The industry doesn't need her. Well at least solo.
