This was pretty tough
But then, dragging your own album is never easy.
On a side note, I'm a little disappointed that there was no video intro for this season I always kind of looked forward to those.

Choose The Album, Then a Song 5: VOTE! [R5]
LADIES & GENTLEMAN... CHOOSE THE ALBUM, THEN A SONG IS BACK!
The Game is back on!
We're back! The entries are in and I am sure you're ready to try to put someone out of your way! This is going to be an interesting round since the contestants had to try to bash their albums, don't you think?
Well, let's get to meet the 15 entries!
THE RULES
By joining the cast of this game, you're agreeing with the rules:
1. DURING THE TIME TO VOTE, ALL THE CONTESTANTS MUST VOTE (OTHERWISE YOU'RE PENALIZED);
2. NO CONTESTANT MAY ASK FANS TO SAVE THEIR ALBUM;
3. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST DELIVER THEIR ENTRY IN TIME, OTHERWISE THEY'RE ELIMINATED (if you need extra time, you need to let me know);
4. A SONG CAN ONLY BE USED THREE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE CHALLENGE;
5. ONCE A SONG IS USED, IT GETS BLOCKED FOR THE NEXT THREE ROUNDS;
6. EVERYONE IS ALLOWED TO VOTE (INSIDERS+OUTSIDERS);
7. EVERYONE HAS TO READ/LISTEN THE ENTRIES BEFORE VOTING;
8. ONE VOTE PER PERSON.
THE JUDGING PANEL
1. Pedro
2. boyonce
3. Inner Insanity
4. VDK
ROUND FIVE

1. e437 - Beyoncé - BEYONCÉ: Superpower (feat. Frank Ocean)

I chose Superpower as the worst song because it really does not make the person who listens the song to listen to it again. Also, the fact that this song is placed after so many good songs like Mine, XO or ***Flawless, does not help. To make it worse, Beyonce decided to put Frank Ocean on the track too. His verse makes the song even more boring. Even the video is kinda boring. So, yeah, the album could've been so much better without this song on it. |

2. Adele Addict - Avril Lavigne - Avril Lavigne: Hello Kitty

For this round, I chose "Hello Kitty" because, as most fans would agree, it is lyrically the most nonsensical song Avril has ever recorded, and possibly one of the dumbest songs ever written. The cheesy and provocative lyrics were supposedly inspired by the fictional Japanese character Hello Kitty, although the sexual undertones really defeat the purpose of the song's dedication to the character. Musically, the song isn't much better. It's generic, unoriginal, and it doesn't make any sense. It will surely make any listener cringe.

3. Mr.Link - Nelly Furtado - Loose: No Hay Igual (feat. Residente)

"Loose" shines for its variety. When you listen to it you can find brilliant ballads, club bangers, weird songs, generic beats, and then there's this song. I'm sorry but I have never gotten into this meaningless mess, it's useless, it's just annoying for the sake of being annoying. I'm choosing the remix version cause Residente's rap verse makes it even worse than it already was. I wish you guys knew spanish so you could understand how cringe-worthy and vulgar it is. Nelly has done amazing spanish songs in the past, but this one was just a big failure.

4. Kyle. - Miley Cyrus - Bangerz: SMS (Bangerz) (feat. Britney Spears)

SMS (Bangerz) is one of my favorite songs on the album, but it sadly will not do anything to further myself in this game. The track does not have any specific theme to it; it's all over the place. It was even basically described as a mess. ("....it is lyrically a celebration of pop culture, beautiful women, [and] strong women"). All of the songs on this album have a theme except for this one.

5. Regina George - One Direction - Midnight Memories: Does He Know

I decided to eliminate Does He Know? of their tracklist because this song is basically everything they should ditch, lyric and music wise. This songs sounds like a reject of Up All night (their debut ) with this new record they were supposed to grow up but they still have some young audience. The repetitive Whoa-oh-oh, that you can listen in most of their singles. On Midnight Memories there's about 8 songs with the same theme and if we count the other albums it will make it the 17, I'm tired of it. The repetitive lyrics of wanting to get a random girl that they just meet in a random place but she's dating someone else but at the end they still get in her, no thank you, this is the only song that I've eliminated from iTunes.

6. Gatsby - Ashlee Simpson - Autobiography: Love Me For Me
7. ∆ Emyromania ∆ - Good Charlotte - The Chronicles Of Life And Death: Once Upon a Time: The Battle Of Life and Death

I picked the instrumental-introduction track of the album. Even though is beautiful in it's own way, I know that it doesn't stand out in this album. Would look better if it was an introduction of a song, but by itself it looks like it lacks substance.
Also I know using this in the game is useless, nobody's here for this. Everybody will consider it a bore.
So I sacrifice this song for those reasons and because I feel like the other songs have more potential and they could wow the judges (and hopefully audience) in further rounds.

8. dimitrius - Charlie Puth - Ego: Lights Go Out

After enveloping myself around Charlie's whole album, I've come to realize that there is a common thread that runs throughout each song. This golden thread is the fact that Charlie has written each song based upon his own experiences - both when he has had too big of an ego & on the contrary, lacked enough self-confidence. To me, "Lights Go Out" is definitely the sore thumb of the album. Though it is a nice bop, it does not contribute to the album as it is rather generic. Furthermore, this song was originally written for someone else, and is the only song Charlie did not involve himself with. Finally, this sounds like a sequel to "In The Dark", which provides more depth and better conveys an egotistical connection.

I'm So Stupid
From the very beginning of this song, coming in early as track #3 on American Life, there's something uncomfortable and "off" about it. Uncomfortable + Off = Madonna, yes, but it's different here. Madonna bizarrely scrapes up anger and remorse in a song that comes across as a snoozefest and a bit unnecessary. The melody is a bit less than exceptional, the production is nothing you can't find elsewhere on the record, and the lyrical content... just hmph, nothing you can't get through a few other songs on the album. Even for a song that's so early in the track listing, it certainly doesn't seem to have a profound impact on the flow: in fact, it seems to flow better without it (try going from "Hollywood" to "Love Profusion" and you'll see what I mean).
"Everybody's lookin' for something."

10. igor - Britney Spears - Britney Jean: Chillin' With You (feat. Jamie Lynn Spears)

I feel like Britney only included Chillin' With You on Britney Jean to help her sister's music career. The sound doesn't differ from the other tracks, the record is full of ballads and the twerk beat twist on the chorus can be found on Tik Tik Boom, a song that is actually for it. The personal lyrics about how she likes to spend time with her sister aren't that good, an even more personal Brightest Morning Star has better lyrics and is also about family, her sons. Chillin' With You is useless and not helpful to the album because there are another songs on the album that have the same elements, I can always choose a better song for a theme it would also fit.

11. SIMon1120 - Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSound: Chop Me Up (feat. Timbaland & 36 Mafia)

While most of the sex/love songs on the album speak up for Timberlake himself as he is the main singer, this one is more like randomly mixed loud voices of a gang bang composed of Timberlake and two rappers trying to degrade the girls as party animals and bring them out for drinking entertainment. This song does not make Timberlake a gentleman who praises the girls like in Until the End of Time, My Love, and also does not give the listeners the sex mood like in Sexy Back, Lovestoned, or basically FutureSex/Lovesound. It can easily be removed from the album.

12. Chill Bill - Gotye - Making Mirrors: Giving Me A Chance

Giving Me a Chance isn't a bad song, but it doesn't seem to serve any real purpose on the album. It's just sort of... there. Musically, it's kind of drab, and while the other tracks on Making Mirrors included deep self- reflective lyrical themes, this is just a simpering plea for forgiveness. And I'm sorry, but that's just not very interesting, especially following fascinating tracks like Smoke and Mirrors or State of the Art. And is it just me, or does the refrain "I know I let you down, but you're giving me a chance" sound kind of presumptuous? I mean, geez, Gotye, aren't you supposed to ask for forgiveness before you assume that you're getting it?

So I choose this song for Round 1, as the song that best represents the album. This is also the reason why I feel like I can sacrifice the song. Cinderella's Eyes really does reflect this album Sonically, Lyrically and Vocally. I feel like every other song off this album is based of this song in same way or another. Its like the mother of the album, and the other songs are the kids. They each have a part of this song in them and are able to survive without it eventually.

14. Penk - Janelle Monáe - The Electric Lady: It's Code

The song I chose for this round was "It's Code". The soul pop track has been one I have hoped for a long time would grow on me, as every other song on the album did, but it never clicked with me. The problem with it is that it just doesn't feel like a "Janelle Monae" song, instead it feels more like a generic R&B ballad that would not have sounded out of place on a Jackson 5 album. Lyrically, it has none of the charm Janelle usually brings, vocally it can be a bit annoying to listen to, and production-wise it is nothing I haven't heard before. Overall, it is a dud on a pretty much flawless album.

15. Jake. - Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape: Breakin' Up

Breakin' Up is easily the worst song in both The Sweet Escape and Gwen's discography. The song, produced by The Neptunes, is about a dropped call between Gwen and her lover. That's literally it. The production is dated, the vocals are borderline yelling, the lyrics are mind numbing and repetitive, and the song just sticks out compared to the rest of the uplifting and relatable tracks on the album. If you don't believe this song is the worst on TSE, just listen to the bridge (2:27). |
