The reasoning behind the two screens is that the E-Ink display would show basic information like text messages, tweets, emails, weather, etc. The normal display could still be used for anything, and would need to be used for things like playing games or watching videos due to E-Ink's slow refresh rate. However, by using the E-Ink display, your battery will last a lot longer.

This is beautiful true innovation. I just might have to buy one if/when it's released.
The white one is so futuristic I hope a carrier picks this up because it's really an awesome idea. Most of the things we do on phones could easily be done on the E-Ink display, so that would save a lot of battery life.
