I think both have their iconic traits, it varies from time to time tbh.
Freddy has always been MILES scarier and superior in almost every concievable aspect tho.

Jason, obviously. He DEFINES the "cabin in the woods" genre. As someone else said, Freddy fits a niche market. Jason fits an entire genre.

I know Freddy by name, but I've seen the icehockey mask parodied/replicated way more than Freddie's persona.
