I don't know why he decided to have a sudden change of heart, but Bob Lefsetz just posted this on his blog:

He's right, I can 100% be evidence personally of her influence. I don't think I would have ever tried to write a song if I never found Taylor, she inspired me to put my feelings into music and I think she did that for a lot of other young musicians as well
