I thought over this yesterday and I think I know why MK, Kristen & Malaya were the bottom three.
In a week where there is 13 contestants, you either stand out in a good way, be ok and fly under the radar, or stick out like a sore thumb.
Malaya and Kristen stood like a sore thumb among everyone because of how bad their performances were. MK stood out like a sore thumb because her performance was a bit of a bore.
Dexter and Ben were ok but nothing special. But because this is the first week and they have the country vote and their were performances worse than both of them, they flew under the radar.
Sam, Alex, Jena, Jessica, Emily & Majesty all stood out in a good way (though I hate Alex). They all chose songs that suited them and represented who they are as artists.
Caleb was ok, but he got the pimp spot which basically keeps you safe in the first week.
In the coming weeks, I don't think the country boys will last much longer. I think Ben will be the last country boy standing because CJ is a wildcard and Dexter doesn't seem to be as popular. Jena will be the last wildcard standing.
I saw her cover of Radioactive as well and it was also way better than any of her live show performances. I don't think her song choices were all that bad, I just think nerves got to her. And she probably should have played her guitar.
