It was the first time that year I noticed her voice sounded raspy/rough, not her best vocally, but she was SO INTO IT. She seemed so angry
I wonder if this came after Clive's snide shade that night?
LOL that's my video I uploaded. The quality was much better before they changed their video sizes and it screwed it all up.
The Celebrate My Drive performance is now officially cancelled. They're apparently looking for a replacement performer. Maybe her voice is in a bad shape due to her sickness or there are some other health problems...but something tells me we won't get to see or officially hear from her until June when her baby is born
I'm kind of okay with that because that was the 3rd Kelly concert in New Orleans that I couldn't go too...

Melinda Doolittle @mdoolittle (Former Idol contestant)
1. Kristen's voice is so pretty! 2. Kelly Clarkson just has GREAT songs…period. 3. The beginning was gorgeous. #Idol
@JimVerraros (Former Idol contestant, Season 1)
You just can't touch Kelly Clarkson. It's not possible. Unless you're Kelly Clarkson. #WatchingTop13 #AmericanIdol
Did someone break the unspoken rule of singing shows and perform a Kelly song? If so, I need a link when it's put online.
Kelly could actually bring the knowledge of how to stay relevant in the current music scene, Christina apparently can't. When Christina fans will learn this is beyond me.

One thing I've seen since being on this board, her fans are WAY too defensive and appear to be, quite frankly, pressed. The thread about the Voice ratings was bad, but this is worse

You'll come to learn that the most defensive fanbase is the Christina base. I can't blame them. Kelly's Greatest Hits album alone sold more than both of Christina's previous two efforts combined. I can understand them being scared to admit that her career is slipping. I remember when Say Something was #1 on iTunes and they JUMPED at the opportunity to celebrate some success in her career even though she's just a featured artist.
And you'll also learn that the cockiest base is the BeyHive. Granted, they have receipts to be cocky about. However, Kelly and the Hive only clash when it comes to who's the top vocalist, as they're the only contenders and that typically involves Chimier and I absolutely hate arguing with him because his arguments are massively inconsistent (one time he claimed Kelly had holes in her vocal range because he couldn't find a certain note and then claimed she couldn't be a certain voice type because she should be able to go higher, but then said Whitney Houston was this voice type despite her highest note being MUCH lower than Kelly's), and he fails to understand that a lot of the sound of Kelly's voice is dependent on the genre of music she's singing. No one sings operatically when they're belting out to something like Since U Been Gone. In fact, I know a few great classical vocalists and they can't, for the life of them, belt out a Kelly song because it's so challenging.

I feel like I'm getting the Mean Girls scoop here
And yeah I've noticed they're pretty cocky, but I guess it's not as easy to notice because what they're cocky about is pretty legit.
And yeah, I got in an argument with Chimier one time and they seemed WAY too biased to be having a discussion about Kelly vs. anyone to be honest. He kept talking about how Kelly only "shouts" and has holes in her voice, which couldn't be further from the truth.
We all know Kelly can go much higher with her voice, she's said before in interviews she can do whistle notes but chooses not to because she doesn't want to be labelled and pigeon-holed. I hope on the next album she fully explores her voice, on Stronger she was holding back so much it was annoying.
I agree. Especially on songs like Mr. Know It All, she sounded really tired on the studio recording (especially when you compare it to the live performances).
Part of me doesn't mind when she holds back though because it makes the live performances more exciting when she adds extra high notes and stuff, but it would be nice to have her showing off everything she's capable of on a studio recording.

You are, only more controversial.
My problem with his argument is he keeps comparing Kelly to operatic singers. I found him on YouTube and all of his playlists and favorites revolve around that kind of singing and he must be one of those elitists that focus on that style of singing. What makes it worse is that all of his favorite singers tend to be black. I don't know if he just thinks anything that doesn't sound like that is a bad voice or what... But, I avoid arguing with him because he throws out so much vocal bulls*** jargon that it's hard to argue with him and then the entire Hive will get behind him even though they have no idea what he's talking about as well.

Ahh I so agree. It was kind of insulting the way he was talking to me, he was using big words and talking down to me to try and sound like he was so above me as far as his knowledge goes…. he was putting on such a front. I've seen a few of the Bey stans name dropping him in similar discussions and its just like….
Just compare MKIA studio to MKIA country version and you can hear how much better her voice is. Plus the song is so much better with that high note she does in live versions. On the whole album she was restraining herself, she needs to do some whistle/high notes and show off her voice more, before she gets too old.
This is why I want a more vocal album from her. The Beyoncé and Christina fanbases are lucky in that their faves put their vocal capabilities on full display in their albums, while we stan for Kelly who is very conservative with her voice and still places at the top. We, as fans, know what she's capable of, but the rest of the world deserves to as well.

I just love it when he tries to say that Kelly's G5's are forced and that she's singing "from the top of her larynx" while "shouting" and "rubbing her vocal cords together" in order to produce "a larger sound" than what her "natural voice" provides. The idea that she has to force to hit a G5 when she doesn't even have to scale up to belt an A5 or a C6, unlike Beyoncé, is just hilarious to me.
