Well apparently she'll be on Ellen next week (again), so I HOPE she performs "LUV" (there will be a performance). She performed it at the free concert for the Army so that might actually be a single now.
She also performed part of "Rhythm Nation," and it was great
Well, I happen to not agree. It's funny that a Madonna fan is the first one to respond to a Janet Jackson remix. I expected some objectivity, of course!
Janet will be performing on Ellen next week, appearing at the Apollo Hall of Fame ceremony, having two performances on TV soon after her concert performances for the troops, and preparing for a world tour. She will be fine, believe me! GO JANET!
That's funny....final nail in coffin for a woman who has a #1 album after 22 years in the music business and over 35 years of entertainment in TV (Good Times, Fame, Diff'rent Strokes), 3 consecutive #1 films (Poetic Justice, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, Why Did I Get Married?), and more!
i am a janet fan BUT i don't like this remix. she needs to go ahead and release and shoot a video for LUV. the radio is playing it as if it is the second single and the fans love it.

well she should retire instead of continuing to embarass herself, correct?
I like the original better and I think it's a decent single. They really should have invested more in 'Luv' though because I don't think this album has many viable singles.

I can laugh because Janet is already successful and has nothing to prove, especially not to you and people who consistently like to hate. If her tour bombs and every single she releases is hated by the world over, so what? She is JANET JACKSON! Calm down....
Exactly. So in response she should've retired after Damita Jo instead of continuing to make her career seem less and less important or good. With all of these failures she's continually being forgotten, so her name almost values nothing. IMO, of course.

I'm sorry, but your just burning yourself...nobody at all was denying the success that she has already gather after all her years in the music business, so I don't even get why you brought that up in your first post in this thread
Then you said that Janet is about to do all this promo, and she and this single will be just fine...and now your saying you don't care is this album and single flop? your saying one thing then the complete opposite
The point of all us "haters" as you say is that she should go ahead and retire because her music career has not been doing good at all recently...no one is stripping her of her achievements here Period.

Embarrass herself?
If anything, she's in a much better position than where she was in the last four years. This remix isn't single material and she won't be shooting a video for it, but "Feedback" made her relevant with kids again. On my high school bus, I started playing it on my phone and some kids were singing along: "Yeah that's sexy sexy sexy!" LOL. If that isn't a hit, what is?
To put it simply, "FB" wasn't a smash hit (mostly due to radio, of course), but it was very well-received by people in general, and made it cool to buy a Janet Jackson album again. Say what you will about her first week sales, but she only sold 50K less than Madge and this is in the age of flop albums from the Simpson sisters. The fact that Janet can still even sell six figures, especially after the super bowl, is impressive IMO. What I'm saying is, if she put the right single out there ("LUV"), I think people would go for it and I think it would be the hit that she needs. I think this is the time where she can revitalize her career for real. However, it's up to her to make the right decisions; she doesn't have the same feel for the market that she did seven years ago so I'm hoping her label knows what to do.
By the looks of it, it doesn't... I can hope, though.

I don't understand all the negativity. Just because someone "only" sells 180K in their first week, they should "go ahead and retire?" Would you all be saying this about Madonna if she was in this position? JJ still makes great music, so why does it matter? And it's not like this is actually the "final straw" for her. Anyone can make a comeback. Mariah did it against all odds. If Janet got that breakout single, it would easily happen to her. She's hot, she's talented and she's down to earth. What more do you want?

I'm not a fan of HC and I don't like it anymore than Discipline, but I need to correct you on a few things...
First of all, Madonna sold 100k more than Janet did in her opening week in the U.S., not 50k. Second, 'Hard Candy' sold more than 3x what 'Discipline' did WW in its opening week. Third, the "go ahead and retire" comment is valid because it took over ten weeks for 'Discipline' to double its opening week #'s. It'll have to do it again if Janet wants to reach Gold, and it doesn't look very likely. Fourth, there was a good amount of promo leading up to the album release but there hasn't been much follow-up. Better singles and better promo could have had her at least 100k higher by now.
