People are not hating him for small reasons, or because they cant stand him. Do people who say they lked him realise what hes done? Fake iraq stories just to get the "breakthrough" news, phone hacking scandals where he stalked families of people who got a missing kid (so the investigators were stuck and the whole investigation got blocked etc. He's also a sexist and i wouldn't be surprised if he was a homophobe.
