From my standpoint, I see 3 cities having the best chances at hosting a Summer Olympics.

1. Washington, DC - This one is already heavily publicized. Their going point right now is "the US is one of the few world powers who has not used their capital city as an Olympic host city, and in 2024 this needs to change."

2. New York City - For obvious reasons, this would bring huge publicity to the Olympic games. New York is one of the (if not the) most dominant city in the world of business and trade, as well being a magnet for tourism. The benefits: New York holds events of Olympic calibre every year and has a massive transit system. 4 million people are in New York on a daily basis, so an influx in traffic from Olympic season will not do too much damage. We already have major facilities built for the games, and the proposed plans have been very well thought out.

3. Miami - For obvious reasons, Miami is a great city for the summer games. The only questionable thing I can think of is its proximity to Cuba. What will our international relations be like in 2024? That's still a decade away, and anything can happen.

If the USOC ends up cancelling the 2024 bid (which I highly doubt due to the 3 major cities I just mentioned) then Seattle and Denver are the top 2 bid choices for 2026.

These are basically the cities known by people outside of the US, and the IOC has shown that as far as Summer Games go they are not interested in 'secondary' cities.
