I was watching some old performances last night, and I realized that so much of it is about charisma. Some performances seemed odd like DWUW on The Voice and ARTPOP on Fallon because of her weird movements, almost old lady like
I think this performance was so good because of that attitude/charisma, and there was no audience she was trying to please/interact with.
Tbh though it always was a bit much to expect a lot from her so soon, due to her hip. She should've spent some more time to perfect the album and come out at the Grammys but it is what it is and she's pulling through.
Gaga was so sexy during her Judas performance @ Jimmy Kimmel back in the BTW era.

Nnnnnn, let me have a moment here and let me say that I'm here for her and ARTPOP. I mean, for me, this is amazing. I'm totally here for a slayage like this. Why, oh why did this era had to develop the way it did? Not only ARTPOP is her best album (for me at least), but also I enjoyed some of the performances more than I did in the past (incl this one).

Her hip injury is not even that serious. At least not as Britney's knee. She still can do choreo ala Applause. Anyway she slayed in 2009-2010 even without some epic choreography. It's not like she needs it all the time

I agree, I'm just saying that she rushed back into things even if those months felt like eternity to the rest of us. But honestly, if she just stands there and looks fierce, like her SMAP SMAP Applause performance and all of the Jingle Bell performances this year, everything falls into place and she looks incredible.
