Here in Venezuela we could only wish

Geopolitical tensions between Russia and the West (especially the EU) on Ukraine's future. The West of the country is more pro-EU while the East is more pro-Russian (they even speak the same language). The protesters are mostly pro-EU but among them you also have a bunch of fascists and neo-nazis pushing the riots as far as they can for their own interest. Elections are the only solution to see what the majority wants : the EU or Russia.

i don't think elections were fair, the head of the opposition was sent to jail 2 years ago...

The elections were controversial but polls showed he had a majority supporting him when he was elected in february 2010 :

Obviously, it's no longer the case today, but then negative polls aren't an argument for a Coup d'Etat.

Also we don't know about how free are the media, newspapers, etc. Putin always wins in all the polls but that does not mean Russia is a democracy. Also let's not forget that the deposed president had just passed laws that basically turned Ukraine from a democracy into a dictatorship

I'm still reading up on the situation to decide where my support lies but I will not that Tymoshenko's imprisonment struck me as unjust.

Obviously Tymoshenko ending up in jail was a very controversial move as well (the main argument being that the accusation did not hold up). However, keep in mind that she is very pro-EU/West compared to Viktor Ianoukovytch so there is a conflict of interests which cannot be ignored when EU institutions and western countries mention her emprisonment.

So so so so so proud of the people of Ukraine, for fighting till the death for their country. Our inspiration

Sadly this won't be the same story with Venezuela, the Military defended the Ukranian people, as it's their sworn duty. The Venezuelan army is unabashedly behind the corrupt government, and have been murdering anyone protesting or showing any signs of turmoil, no questions asked, going as far as using violent gangs to strenghter the oppression.

Our only hope is international help at this point, sadly no one seems to notice or care about us, our plight or our dead

But hope this is the beggining of something new, and great for Ukraine.

He was very corrupt and make deals with the Russians that personally benefited him, he illegally imprisoned former PM Tymoshenko and used arms against his own citizens. Not to mention the previous elections were riddled with irregularities and corruption. He was a tyrant and what ever her gets he deserves.

Crazy, I finally did my homework on this and really read up on it.

Obviously Ukraine still has a journey ahead of them but I think this is definitely a HUGE step in the right direction, as is freeing Yulia. The elections is set for May, right, so that will be another big moment for them.

It is inspirational to see the people fight for want they want and succeed.

This, the parliament has impeached the president and called for new elections in May, so basically he's out, even though he says he is still the president, but when you have been forced out of your own home by the people I think it is time to give up
