I've seen Snow White like 28638236 times as a kid, & don't recall this scene at all, was this actually a scene that got deleted or banned? It seem as if they robbed a bank
I could be wrong, but from what I've learned in U.S. History class, this really looks like WAR PROPAGANDA... you know, those posters, cartoons, and movies designed to make people feel patritic and contribute to the war effort (by enlisting, sending money, etc.).
In this case, the message is obvious: bring your money to the bank and get war savings certificates; that way, you'll be helping the war effort (or in other words, you'll be helping us win the war and kick some enemy ass). Plus, I'm pretty sure at the end they sing "Hi ho, we'll win the war..."
I wouldn't be surprised if this was made by Disney, either, as back then Hollywood was usually in good terms with the government (obivously unlike now...) and often too willing to help.

The sequence was used (and requested) by the Canadian government to encourage the purchase of war bonds during the Second World War (why yes, I have The War Years Disney Treasures set which has the whole cartoon). Disney used around 5 different shorts for Canada before the US was involved and then made a few (most notably The New Spirit and The Spirit of '43 staring Donald Duck) to encourage paying taxes on time and buying war bonds.
