Do you put "an" infront of words that start with "h"?
I noticed some people doing that in random comments on this board. I find that so weird though, since where I live, the "h" is pronounced as a consonant.
Ex: Would you say "a hero" or "an hero"?
For me it's "a hero"
Austin.

Not all of them. It depends if you're hearing the h or not

Only if the "h" makes a vowel sound or if it's silent, some people pronounce "herbal" differently so it depends. Usually, I use "a" though.

Probably done by Northern English people? They often say things like 'Give me an 'and with this?' - just completely ignore the H.

If the "h" is silent and followed by a vowel sound, yes. Like, I'll say "an hour" or whatever. But otherwise, no.

It depends. For hero its "a". For words like hour and honor its "an"

Yeah. You put "an" in front of a silent "h".

It depends on the word, and whether the 'h' is silent or not.
"a horse", "an hour", etc.

A hero.
An hero is a meme, basically saying to kill yourself.

Depends on how the h word is pronounced. A soft H? An. A hard H? A.
