Should Women Be Treated More Delicately Then Men?
We all know that the fight for equality continues, but society seems to have double standards. While most people agree that women should be paid equally for equal work/qualifications, and should not be denied any jobs or salary based on their gender, there are still those who take exceptions to other cases.
When women are beat by men, it is rightfully deemed a heinous crime, yet when women beat men, you sometimes hear jeering and mocking.
When men don't pay for the bill to a dinner, it is often seen as embarrassing or disrespectful.
When women are hit by men in a fight (which implies both sides have fault), only the man is made to feel dishonored even if the woman is twice his body weight and muscle mass.
In divorce court, the judge almost always finds in favor of the mother, awarding primary child rights and child-support payments.
In professional sports, many women advocate separating competitions to remain one-gendered between sports/events because it's "not fair" to female athletes.
SO my question is: is this fair? Do you think that true equality should mean actually having both genders be given the same amount of scrutiny and expectations?

Here's how i feel, and i'm sorry in advance if i sound like an ass;
If a woman were to strike a man, i think that man should be allowed to defend himself to the best of his ability and i don't think he should talk any blame for it. This is assuming the reason the woman hit the man in first place wasn't because she was defending herself.

It depends what you mean by delicately! I think both sexes have to be treated delicately. Of course, guys are rougher and really don't care about being treated delicately. It also depends whether a woman deserves respect to be treated delicately. I mean if a woman is a Hell's Angel's type of girl and I try to treat her "delicately", by sending her roses (when maybe, she wanted a case of beer instead) I might get beat up.
Now, some want to be treated delicately and some don't. So, it really depends on the situation and the person. Yes all people should be treated with respect. But, I don't know what you mean by delicate. Does that mean sending her roses or calling her 'buttercup'? But also, being delicate, also doesn't mean being patronizing.

Jesus christ. Women wanting to be treated equally doesn't mean that men are all of a sudden allowed to beat us and we have to just sit there and take it. That's not what equality means. Men need to understand that they are the more dominant sex. They are stronger physically, they have the upper hand in 90% of situations, they are respected more. So boo ****ing hoo to you not liking that you have to pay the dinner bill by yourself. If that's all the "discrimination" you have to deal with find yourself lucky. Women have to deal with things like being paid less, not being respected, being told to stay out of professions that are seen as a male only thing, and in more extreme countries, not being allowed to drive, being told that in order to not be raped they have to cover up every single part of their body except for their eyes, not being given an education, being told their own reason for existing is to sexually please men and pop out babies, etc. Just no.

This is how I feel. Nobody should be hitting anybody in the first place but if its self defense gender shouldn't matter. What if a woman was trying to murder a man? Would you expect him to just let her kill him

the stereotyping though. not every man is like this, and the only reason MOST men are like this is because society has taught them that being a man = being *tough* *rough* etc.
it's completely ridiculous

If a woman was legitimately putting a man's life in danger, then yes he should defend himself. But let's get real. Majority of the time the woman is not trying to kill the man and we're talking about a slap to his face. That is not reason enough for the man to then hit her back. All he would need to do in that situation is walk away. Simple as that.

I believe they were saying that a man should not sit back if a woman were to strike him/start to beat him up violently.
