Add on Madonna hasn't had THAT much promo. Besides a video, iTunes promotion, and radio interviews she's had nothing. Britney had the exact same things and Madge is debuting in the same area as she is.
I really don't agree with this statement. Madonna has had much more "self-promotion" than Britney. she has done many interviews, been on many radio shows, and made many television appearances to promote the album. britney did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. she may have gotten a lot of promotion from shows that are fascinated with her, but most shows are very fasinated with madonna and did almost as much promotion for her as they have for britney. if britney actually did promote herself and maybe did a few performances the song would have done much better and maybe even hit the number one spot.
ALSO keep in mind that britney hit a milestone in her career by hitting her highest charted single since hit me baby one more time, while madonna's single wasn't really anything special compared to what she's done.

The argument was if "4 Minutes" is having more success than "Gimme More", which it is. We don't have to go into detail about what has been done. Bottom line "4 Minutes" is having more success. I would've like for "Gimme More" to have blown up, but it was released at the wrong time.
People need to stop comparing Madonna's sales to Mariah's . You need to be logical. Mariah would obviously outsell Madonna in the U.S. She's a multi-genre artist. She can appeal to any type of music fan. While Madonna - no matter how urban she goes - is still a POP artist. Of course she won't appeal to a wider audience as Mariah. But as far as it goes worldwide, Madonna wins.

Exactly, Madonna has more International Support than Mariah but Mariah is the winner in US
Hard Candy is 10000x more sucsesfull then E=MCsquare(i still cant do the 2 thingy).E=MC debuted at 1 in the US & Canada but prety much flopped everywhere else whereas Hard Candy will debut top 3 everywhere(and 1 in most countries).
Mariah is so much better than Madonna, voice-wise, song-wise, image-wise, beauty-wise and talent-wise.
Madonna may be more successful worldwide, but Mimi should not care because she's better than Madonna.

Alot of people think Mimi is just a stuck-up diva who always wants her own way, whereas with Madonna people see her as an icon who does good e.g. (adoption)
