And while the concentration camps might be the epitome of horrible, all countries, and European ones in particular, have things which they can be ashamed of.

that's not fair? like all of Germany regrets that time, everyone regrets that time. you can't hold an entire population of people who literally had nothing to do with something that happened a century ago.

Germans who lived during the time = accountable

Germans who didn't and also understand, regret and sympathize with those affected by their country's past = not accountable

Oh I bet some of my ancestors died during the looting of Reinland-Pfalz in the 17th century too and wait I heard from my Grandma that a brother of hers, a Communist, was in a KZ too, should hate myself.
