I agree with you that many people know the line "if you love something, you should put a ring on it", though, as it was used as a meme. And I think it's just another factor of popularity rather than impact.
However, if we're gonna judge things by this criteria, is "The Fox" one of the biggest songs of 2013 now? I believe just as many people (if not more) know and use the line "What does The Fox say?"
