It's probably PR. They tried it with Demi 2 summers ago to promote X Factor. He fell HARD for her while she just couldn't fake it but went along with it for press up to a certain point.

Last time she went there, it was for her new wax figure @ the museum.
Well we do know that Selena likes to hop on the wagon with whatever boyband/teen male star is biggest at that moment, first Nick Jonas, then the JBs faded so she moved on to Justin Bieber, now he is a mess and 1D are massive so it would not surprise me if she starts dating Niall before her next album release.
I'm not saying she doesn't have genuine feelings for these boys but it is certainly curious.
