I've worked at UPS. They will work you like dogs for only 9-10 dollars an hour. And it's part-time only (so that's around $130-$140 a week). That isn't even enough for an apartment, unless you're going to go without food, clothes and transportation every day
They at like they care about safety, but all they care about is speed and moving as much volume as they can. People's packages get thrown all over the place.Often unloading trailers we just tear walls (walls of packages) down because the ass-hole supervisors glaring at us only care about speed, while they can literally **** around and do nothing. When they felt that you weren't going fast enough, they may jump in and help and get a taste of the intense work from time to time. And yes a lot of packages get busted open and things get broken. And irregs (anything over 70 lbs, and or 6-7 feet long or wide).......ch.........
Oh and in contrast to the underpaid slaves (UPS), the truckers get paid like $1000 a week, regardless of if they are feeders (driving loads from hub to hub) or shifters (LITERALLY just move trailers around the hub lot for a few hours). Granted, most of them have been there for 20+ years. Longevity is important but I know some people there have ties that give them a cushy advantage.
