A little bit off topic, but why did people even segregate clothing by gender in the first place! In an alternate reality, 'gender-specific' clothes would be obsolete and I believe it will happen in the future - especially with acceptance and equality being one of the biggest pushed messages of our generation

Parents like these two are helping with this natural progression and whether we think they're doing it right or wrong, they have good intentions

People failing to grasp the concept

They're not trying to create a third gender, or ruin their son's life - they're giving him more opportunities. The fact that most of you make a distinction between boys and girls sorta sums up why we need to steer away from the gender stereotypes.

Who on earth says that a guy can't wear a dress? That a girl can't play with action figures? There's a biological gender, yes, with distinct differences between guys and girls, but that does not mean that you shouldn't be able to play with Barbies, or wear pink just because you're a guy.

He doesn't have a say at that age. If he grows up and wants to dress as a woman that's his choice. But no not at 2 years old. Think about when he starts school at 4. The kids will bully him, and that is not something a child or anyone should go through.

So some of you think that it's MORE okay to FORCE him into a gender stereotype because oh, he can totally just switch it later if he doesn't like it? As if it's easy to grow up having an assigned gender that doesn't fit? As if it's easy to tell the world that the ideas they force upon you because of your body are wrong and that you don't fit those stereotypes? They're giving him the choice NOW when it really matters for the kid in the long run. It's not them toying around and experimenting, it's not them forcing things on him - it's literally the very opposite.

It's literally a piece of fabric. It doesn't change his gender. And he doesn't have a say, yet they're not allowed to dress them the way they want to "unless he wants to"?

I get where they are coming from, but they are going about it in a weird social experiment way. My parents always let me pick out what toy I wanted. If I wanted a Barbie or a race car or whatever.

This will lead to a lot of confusion for the child I feel.

I think something like this is far too progressive for this world. I would raise a child to survive the best he/she can in the world as it currently is. Maybe I'm wrong for that
