My aunt and uncle (who was working at UN for a majority of the time) have been living in NYC for more than 20 years and they still aren't citizens. They got citizenship in Canada very quickly though.

You can have a work visa that can last for a number of years, and a school visa. After that you can apply for citizenship if you so choose.

My country (Italy) has severe problems with illegal immigration. Everyone who emigrates from North Africa ends up here, and then goes to France. I don't know what to think about it, because some of those people just commit crimes, but several others are good people who only want a better life.
