God is usually referred to with masculine intentions in Abrahamic religions. Catholics say in their extra Catholic doctrine "God is neither a man nor a woman, he is God" which defeats is own purpose but w/e. I'd say with most western versions of Christianity, especially in America, if you asked a Christian identifying person which gender god is, they'd most def. say a man I'm sure. I think it's just a thing that developed in the church by men who wanted the power and the ability to reason that they should be able to control women. If it's "humans are equally made in Gods image", dudes aren't special at all. If Eve was an after thought from Adam's rib, and then she caused the first sin, thats reason women can't be trusted, and aren't as "godly" as men and should be under a mans control.
TL;DR men wanted to control women so thats why
Also funfact: The Divine Trinity from Christianity, are actually distinct from each other in Mormonism, rather than part of the same being. And the "God" in the traditional Christian sense is "Heavenly Father" who is literally up in heaven/outer space and married to a "Heavenly Mother", and in earlier LDS Church doctrine I'm pretty sure he had multiple wives. also When it was time for Jesus to be born, "Heavenly Father" came down to Earth and literally did the nasty with Mary to conceive him
